Your skin. Your questions.
Skincare shouldn’t leave you with more questions than answers. Here, we explain how the Mabel Gray Complete System fits into your routine—including caring for skin in your 60s and 70s.

Frequently asked questions
Yes. Our Advanced Boost Serum and Intensive Hydration Moisturiser are suitable for mature skin, including people over 70.
We focus on what your skin needs: moisture, barrier support and a thoughtfully formulated combination of ingredients. Your birthday doesn’t tell us everything about your skin.
If you have known allergies or particularly reactive skin, check the ingredient lists and introduce each product separately.
Neither product contains any added artificial fragrance.
The Advanced Boost Serum is fragrance-free. The Intensive Hydration Moisturiser contains botanical ingredients, so you may notice a very mild scent from the formula itself.
If you’re sensitive to particular botanical ingredients, please check the full ingredient list before using it.
Yes. In the morning, apply your Advanced Boost Serum first, followed by the Intensive Hydration Moisturiser, then your sunscreen.
Sunscreen is the final skincare step before makeup. Follow its directions for application and reapplication.
Our serum and moisturiser don’t replace sunscreen.
Yes! You don’t need to pause your prescribed routine or active steps when introducing Mabel Gray Skincare.
Simply follow your doctor’s or dermatologist’s guidance, and use Mabel Gray Skincare as your daily hydration anchor to keep skin feeling soft, calm, and deeply moisturized, particularly if your skin is already dry or irritated.
The Complete System includes our Advance Boost Serum and the Intensive Hydration Moisturiser and both are safe to use in the under-eye area. Many customers use them very close to the lash line.
This is why we haven’t created a separate eye cream, because we don’t believe another product should be added simply to sell you more and make the routine longer.
Our approach is to provide broad twice-daily support through these two complementary formulas. A separate eye cream may suit some people, but we don’t consider it an automatic requirement.
Both products can be applied gently around the eye area, provided your skin tolerates them.
Use a small amount and avoid direct contact with your eyes, the lash line and eyelid margins. Don’t rub or tug at the skin.
If you experience stinging, watering or irritation, stop applying the product there.
Mabel Gray Skincare products were first sold to the public in 2013.
That gives us more than a decade of experience supplying skincare to our customers.
Our serum and moisturiser support skin’s natural collagen for visibly firmer, plumper skin and are supplied as cosmetics, not therapeutic goods, so they don’t require TGA approval.
The TGA doesn’t assess or approve ordinary cosmetic products. Different requirements apply when a product falls within the therapeutic goods framework, including through certain claims about what medical conditions it treats. Cosmetics are still subject to applicable Australian regulations. [1]
Changes in natural oil production and moisture retention can leave mature skin feeling drier. Hormonal changes, medications, weather and cleansing habits can also contribute.
That’s why we think beyond adding moisture alone. Our approach includes supporting the barrier that helps your skin retain it.
During our 60s and 70s, skin can feel dry and irritated. Dryness is common and this happens for many reasons, including that skin is thinner and loses water more easily. (Medications and medical conditions can also play a role.)
There is good news. The right skin care can improve how your skin feels - and visibly improve how it looks. Mabel Gray Skincare was designed for this and has helped many.
A moisturiser may bring relief without fully meeting the needs of your skin - or your skin may be losing moisture faster than your routine can manage.
Cleansing, dry air and other products can also play a part.
The Intensive Hydration Moisturiser combines moisturising ingredients with botanical oils and barrier lipids. Because thirsty skin needs both moisture and support for the skin that holds it in.
They have different roles, but are designed to work together.
The Advanced Boost Serum provides the targeted ingredient support we place at the centre of our formulation thinking. The Intensive Hydration Moisturiser provides moisture and lipid support for the skin’s barrier, and goes over the top of the serum.
We’ve designed them to complement each other as the Complete System. If you’d prefer to introduce them gradually, start with one, observe how your skin responds, then add the other.
We don’t believe the number of bottles tells you how well a routine supports your skin.
Our Complete System brings together two comprehensive, complementary formulas designed to work in harmony with your skin’s renewal biology, so that the ingredients support one another, and your skin can integrate and use what they provide to best advantage for visibly better results.
Because skin is the hero. Our role is to give it what it needs to do its work.
You’ll still need appropriate cleansing and sun protection. And any prescribed treatment remains a separate consideration.
Two steps. A broad range of support.
We haven’t made a separate night cream. The Intensive Hydration Moisturiser is the moisturising step in our Complete System.
In the evening, gently remove makeup and sunscreen, then use your serum and moisturiser according to the product directions. If you use a prescribed treatment, follow your clinician’s advice about where it fits.
Yes. Apply the serum, then the moisturiser, followed by sunscreen in the morning.
Allow each layer to settle before applying the next. If your makeup rolls or pills, try allowing more time between layers. Keep using the amount of sunscreen specified on its label.
Introduce one product at a time so you can tell how your skin responds.
Try it on a small area before applying it more widely. This doesn’t guarantee you won’t react, but it gives you a cautious starting point.
No formula suits every person. If you have known allergies, check the ingredients first. Stop using a product if it causes irritation.
Tightness isn’t a result you need to aim for.
If washing leaves your face uncomfortable, review your cleanser, water temperature and how often you’re washing. Gentle cleansing and lukewarm water are particularly helpful when skin is dry; hot water can strip natural oils. [2]
We don’t promise to erase wrinkles or lift sagging skin.
Our focus is daily support for moisture, softness and the skin’s barrier. Better hydration can soften the appearance of fine lines associated with dryness, but deeper wrinkles and changes in facial structure are different concerns.
You deserve a clear account of what you’re buying.
There isn’t one timetable that applies to everyone.
Comfort, softness and the feeling of hydration may be the first things you notice. Other changes are best assessed through consistent use, rather than judging your skin from one day to the next.
We don’t promise a fixed number of days. And irritation isn’t something you need to push through while waiting for results.
No. You can start with a simple routine that suits your skin now.
You don’t need to catch up on decades of beauty trends. Gentle cleansing, daily moisture and appropriate sun protection are a useful place to begin.
And you’re welcome to ask us questions before choosing your products.
Our Complete System focuses on broad daily skin support. We don’t promise that it will remove age spots or act as a dedicated pigmentation treatment.
If pigmentation is your main concern, ask your practitioner about suitable targeted options and how they can fit alongside your daily routine.
Sun protection remains important. And have new, changing or unusual spots assessed rather than assuming they’re ordinary age spots. [6]
The needs of skin don’t stop at your jawline. Moisture and barrier support matter on the neck, chest and hands too.
Subject to the product directions and your skin’s tolerance, you can extend your routine to these areas. Introduce products cautiously, especially where skin is sensitive.
Dryness can contribute to a crepey appearance, but crepiness isn’t always just dryness. We don’t promise that moisturising will reverse thinning or lift loose skin.
And you don’t automatically need a separate formula for every body part.
We believe its value lies in the breadth of support brought together in two complementary formulas—and the thought behind how their ingredients work with your skin.
The serum focuses on targeted ingredient and cellular renewal support. The moisturiser is a rich formula bringing together humectants, vitamins, botanical oils and barrier lipids.
That’s a different proposition from collecting a separate bottle for each ingredient or concern. If the Complete System lets you reduce overlapping purchases, consider its cost alongside the routine it replaces.
A higher price alone doesn’t make skincare better. What matters is whether the formulas suit your skin, meet your needs and earn their place in your daily routine.
Yes—a highly simplified routine can provide comprehensive daily support if the formulas themselves are comprehensive.
Fewer steps shouldn’t mean leaving important needs unattended. Our thinking brings together support for cellular communication, moisture and the lipid architecture that helps your skin retain it.
The Advanced Boost Serum and Intensive Hydration Moisturiser are designed as complementary parts of that approach. One routine, used consistently, with ingredients chosen to work in harmony with the way skin integrates and uses what they provide.
And simplicity makes that consistency easier. Less juggling. Less temptation to keep changing products before you understand how your skin responds.
Because the goal isn’t to keep your bathroom shelf busy. It’s to support your skin’s own work.
Gentle cleansing, sunscreen and any prescribed treatment still have their place.
We choose ingredients for their contribution to your skin. Adding perfume isn’t a priority.
Our serum is fragrance-free, and neither formula contains added artificial fragrance. The moisturiser may have a mild natural scent from its botanical ingredients.
Barrier support, however, is central to our formulation thinking. Your barrier helps retain moisture and provides protection from the outside world. When skin is dry or easily irritated, supporting that function matters.
That’s why our moisturiser brings together moisturising ingredients, botanical oils and barrier lipids. We’re interested in the structures that help skin hold moisture, as well as the moisture itself.
And a pleasant scent doesn’t tell you whether a formula’s meeting those needs.
If you have ingredient allergies, check the full ingredient list: fragrance-free doesn’t mean every person will tolerate every ingredient.
Retinol can offer worthwhile benefits for uneven skin tone, texture and fine lines. But it can also cause dryness, redness, peeling and irritation, particularly when the strength or frequency exceeds what your skin tolerates. [3, 4]
Mabel Gray Skincare uses Bakuchiol instead, a gentler plant-derived alternative that mimics retinol's benefits without the typical side effects. Retinol is a synthetic or animal-derived vitamin A derivative.
If your skin is already dry or reactive, that deserves particular care. More isn’t automatically better. And persistent burning or soreness is a sign your skin needs more support.
Our philosophy is that encouraging renewal should sit alongside broad support for the skin doing the renewing—including cellular communication, bio-mimetic moisture and compatible barrier support.
Moisturisers can help reduce retinoid irritation. Our Advanced Boost Serum, with its peptides, vitamins and PDRN is safe during retinol use, or that our Complete System makes any strength or frequency suitable. [4]
Introduce retinol cautiously, use sun protection, and follow your prescriber’s instructions for Retin-A or other prescription retinoids.
Because asking more of your skin should come with paying closer attention to what it needs.
Because a formula isn’t a competition to print the biggest number on the bottle.
An ingredient’s contribution depends on its concentration, its formulation and the ingredients around it. A higher percentage doesn’t automatically produce a better overall result.
We favour a broad combination of ingredients at carefully selected levels, designed to complement one another and the biology receiving them.
Some help attract moisture. Others provide emollience or barrier lipids. Others are selected for their role in epidermal cell renewal support.
Our aim is synergy: ingredients supporting one another, so your skin can integrate and use what they provide to best advantage.
Because skin is the hero. The formula’s there to serve it.
If you’re looking to simplify, that’s exactly what we’ve designed the Complete System to help you do.
Our approach brings together two comprehensive, complementary formulas rather than asking you to build a long routine from separate bottles, each devoted to one fashionable ingredient or narrowly defined concern.
The Mabel Gray Skincare serum and moisturiser are designed to provide broad daily support together. That can make it easier to reduce overlapping products and understand what you’re actually putting on your skin.
Because many visible skin concerns do all share a common cause.
And the useful comparison is the cost and purpose of your whole routine - not simply the price of one bottle.
You can still choose a targeted product for a particular concern. Sunscreen, cleansing and prescribed treatments all remain separate needs. But an elaborate routine isn’t an admission requirement for well-supported skin.
Your appointment is one part of your skin’s care. What you use morning and night between visits is another important consideration.
Our thinking is that well-formulated daily topical support can complement clinic treatments by helping maintain hydration, barrier comfort and a supportive environment for the skin’s ongoing renewal and visible improvement.
The Complete System brings together our focus on epidermal renewal support and lipid architecture in a consistent daily routine.
The aim is to support the work your practitioner’s doing, and give your skin appropriate care throughout the weeks between appointments.
After peels, laser, microneedling or other procedures, follow your practitioner’s specific aftercare instructions. Ask when to introduce or resume each product; your usual routine may need to pause while the skin recovers. [5]
Because the appointment ends. But your skin’s work continues.
Start With What Your Skin Actually Needs
The complete two-step system — designed to work together, not as standalone products.
Advanced Boost Serum
Improves how skin responds, repairs, and regenerates — often within 2–3 weeks.
Intensive Hydration Moisturiser
Supports the environment where skin repair and balance occur — often within 1–2 weeks.
For most customers, this is the best place to start.
"Using one product helps. Using both changes how your skin behaves."
That's where the system works as intended.
